The Film and Music Company is a specialized media management firm in Los Angeles, California
offering a unique global service.
Partnering with a growing list of filmmakers, production companies, sound engineers, and composers
to place their film, music or sound effects into an array of established stock footage and music firms.
Additionally, we showcase their content to our domestic and international clients.
From start to finish we get moving image files, music tracks and sound effects from raw form to universal standards across the range of the stock media industry. To the side are some of the advantages of working with the Film and Music Company compared with any single stock library.
We maintain a private catalog accessible to our direct clients and are working hard to make the same material available to the public in the near future.
Since our primary focus is placing media with other stock footage, music and sound effect libraries, we invite the public to check out a few of our partnering libraries:

Why Work With
The Film & Music Company
We only sign limited non-exclusive contracts with our partnering Filmmakers and Composers.
Which means they keep all the rights to their media and can even sell them directly to whomever they wish.
The only exception is that they are restricted from licensing the same material to other stock libraries.
But why would they want to if we're doing it for them?
Our standing contracts with the major stock libraries gives our Filmmakers and Composers near instant access to multiple libraries.
Instead of establishing new contracts and submitting to each library individually, which could take up to several months each,
they can send their material out immediately and we take care of the rest!
With our own in-house and dedicated editing metatagging team, we can process new material faster than individuals.
Our experience from working regularly with the other libraries, allows us to tailor information to meet their exact requirements.
Making the entire process quick and painless.
Certain stock libraries require that submissions be accompanied with titles, descriptions and keywords (collectively known as metadata).
Filling out all this data for every single clip or track sent can be extremely tedious.
So for those Filmmakers and Composers who don't have the time, we're the perfect assistants.
For our own processing needs we keep a digital archive of all the material submitted to us. As a bonus, our Filmmakers and Composers get the added benefit of an off-site backup of their material. Free to retrieve for as long as they're with us.
Filmmakers and Composers have already paid a lot in time and money to produce their material, why pay more to make them available for stock use?
We agree, so we cover all the initial costs of processing, storage and submissions in exchange for an even split (50-50) of all gross sales we bring in for them, and only what we bring in.
So if a filmmaker were to make a film with the same footage submitted to us and it ended being sold for millions and millions of dollars, would they have to split it with us?
That would be nice, but no, not at all.
On the otherhand, if we sold their footage for use in a feature film for millions and millions, we'd be splitting that with them. Isn't that a good deal?
